Manduca sexta
Large moth with variable coloration. Adults have six orange-yellow spots on the abdomen. This one looked very fresh and did not appear to have any damage to the wings or body. The caterpillars of this moth are often called Tobacco Hornworms and love to eat tomato plants (sometimes they are erroneously called Tomato Hornworms which refers to the Five-spotted Hawk Moth). This was a wonderful way to end National Moth Week 2017.
Suburban. Attracted to a flood light overnight.
