Description:

A Click Beetle, 1.3 cm in length, all black with the exception of the prothorax which is red with a small band of black at the junction with the head. The underside of the prothorax is red and black (see last picture). The elytra are deeply striated and it is hairy. Family Elateridae, Tribe Ampidini, Subtribe Dicrepidiina.

Habitat:

Came to the kitchen window at night. Semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
