Noctuid Moth

Meyrick asthenopa

Description:

This small pale moth was about 7 mm long with a thin brown bowed line through the fore wings and tiny black specks. Costa showed about 5 distinct , evenly spaced black specks. The trailing margin was fringed. Labial palps were brush-like and pointing forwards.

Habitat:

Spotted on a building near a national park - Dandenong Ranges on a warm night.

Notes:

I assumed that this is a Crambid moth because of the shape of wings and labial palps but I could not find a match. But Ken Harris has since provided the reference and an identity for this moth. My thanks to Ken.
In MoV - Part 8- Noctuoidea (B), this moth is named (Trigonistis) asthenopa. Family: Noctuidae
Subfamily: Hypeninae
