Meleagris gallopavo
This is a male wild turkey. You can see his black "beard" on the front of his chest. The beard is made of long course hairs.
This turkey was in a clearing in woodlands consisting of cedars and hedge trees. The woodlands were surrounded by fields of prairie grass and there is a pond 50 feet away. They roost high in the trees.
