Northern Red Oak

Description:

The Northern red oak, also known as Q. Borealis, one of the red oak group (shocker I know). Northern red oaks are mostly called red oaks, and the Northern part of the name is to distinguish it from Q. falcata, the Southern red oak. Red oaks grow slender and tall, reaching amazing heights of 141 feet.

Habitat:

It grows from the north end of the Great Lakes, east to Nova Scotia, south as far as Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana, and west to Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Minnesota
