I think your right Karen, this one doesn't have the ridges down its back like the alligator snapper does.
Are you sure it's an alligator snapper ? I didn't think they are up that far north. http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/an...Perhaps it's a common snapper: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_sn....
