Ficus sp.
Unk. species of ficus growing on a steep hillside. These two trees really stood out. Their roots have a very firm hold on the supporting rocks, and look like they have melted over them. Unable to get close enough for a positive species ID. Prickly Pear, an invasive species, is also a dominant feature on this hillside (last photo).
Found at a highway rest stop. Fully-exposed to elements - sun, rain, wind, etc. Due to north-facing aspect, this is a reasonably dry location (at times), but prone to creek flooding during storms. I'm sure there's plenty of moisture amongst those rocks.
