Handsome Fungus Beetle

eumorphus marginatus

Description:

This bug has six legs and a pair of antennae. Its exoskeleton is black with four distinctive yellow dots. It looks a little bit like a ladybug but is a lot larger and is a different color. At its longest point, it is about two and a half centimeters long. At its widest point, it is about two centimeters wide. Along the outer side of the 'shell' there is a thinner 'layer like' part of the exoskeleton that covers where the legs meet the body, the thorax and abdomen. These three were attached onto the bottom of a fungus that was on a tree.

Habitat:

This distinct insect was found in a secondary rainforest in Singapore.
