Cup Moth Cocoon

Limacodidae family

Description:

1or 2 cm. The images show the where the twig has been scraped away to accommodate the pupal cocoon as well as a close up of the surface of the cocoon. I find the surface to be very beautiful

Habitat:

This style of cocoon is very common here

Notes:

probably Pseudanapaea transvestita which is common as an adult through April and May (Orange Cup Moth)

Very interesting spotting. The cup is extraordinarily elaborate and compact.
