White Lanternfly

Penthicodes farinosa

Description:

This Penthicodes species of the Fulgoridae family does not have a "horn" or "nose" which is typical of other lanternflies. This species contains several variations and subspecies. Estimated 3cm in length. This lantern bug's colors and patterns matches that of this tree bark making it confident of its camouflage.

Habitat:

On the lower whitish part of a Cyrtostachys palm tree in a garden in BDC, Kuching city, Sarawak.

Notes:

A special thanks to Orionmystery for identifying this as a Penthicodes farinosa. This is my first spotting of this species. I am uploading spottings from Sarawak for these few more days.>>>Map accuracy : 1km diameter.
