From "The Field Guide to the Wildflowers of Georgia and the Surrounding States" - found in freshwater marshes, riverbanks, and floodplains throughout Georgia. Grows up to 11 feet tall. Flowers are up to 5 inches wide, pink or white, 5 petals, maroon center. Flowers June through August.

Habitat:

Georgia Piedmont / Indian Springs State Park - located on the banks of Lake McIntosh
