Description:

Red nape, black and white bands across face, black back and wings with white barring. Black tail and light color undersides. Nesting season. This one is using a dead end of a tree branch to dig out a hole in the branch big enough. The decaying center is easy for the bird to dig fast.

Habitat:

Oak woodlands it some other mixed trees.
