Rufous Net Casting Spider

Deinopus subrufa

Description:

About the size of a man's hand

Habitat:

Normally during the day they rest in a space among grasses or leaves and hunt at night. This male is probably hunting a mate as he is far from a resting site at night

Notes:

We have called this one of the species subrufa rather than D. ravida as it was the identification I was given for the same species on my website. I have seen a female nearby that was different from the D. subrufa I have photographed and she is at http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/192...

It is very rare to find a big male like this just wandering around in plain site. I was lucky!

Thanks Shanna. Perhaps I captured the sense of awe I feel when I am able to photograph one of these wonderful creatures
