Ogre-faced Spider

Description:

may be D. subrufa. Nocturnal spider. grows very large

Habitat:

This specimen is using the fibro wall of the garage as a hunting platform. Normally it rests in the potted Bromeiad garden below where it was photographed

Notes:

This spider has moved to take advantage of some splashes of water further up the wall. They seem to need regular water (as do many common web-bound spiders) I began to mist the webs every few days during summer. The Net-casting Spider is also called the Ogre-faced Spider and the reason can be seen in these images
