Philodendron sp.
Philodendrons in indoor pots seldom bloom, and I was amazed at this plant's lovely aroid "flower!" The flower here is about 10" high, and the green leaf is about 14" long. The whole plant is in the form of a vine, several feet long. It's reaching for the darkness of my roof eaves, a trait called scototropism.
This philodendron is a secondary epiphyte, which began as rooted vine growing upward from the ground into a small tree. It will later break its connection to the ground -- if this tree can support it, that is! This is a really heavy plant, just outside my house at the edge of the forest.
There are as many as 489 species of philodendron, and the same plant may have different leaf shapes as it grows.
