This spider, sometimes known as the banana spider, had a leg-spread of 3½"- 4". The stripes on its legs are very striking, as are the bright white spots on the dorsal side of its abdomen, and it has distinct fang stripes. Note how it is resting with two front legs pressed together. I've seen several in this stance.
Wandering spiders come onto my veranda out of the surrounding rainforest, and often into the house. People who aren't afraid of them prize these spiders inside the house because they catch a lot of insects, reducing the need for other remedies.
This one was wandering around at night on my veranda, and was very swift to disappear between the planks when startled, although it didn't move much when I was photographing it.
