Red-shouldered Hawk

Buteo lineatus

Description:

This is a medium sized hawk with a beautiful red breast and shoulders as an adult. Juveniles have a streaked breast (see http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/790... for juvenile). In the western US these birds live in urban areas but they are generally forest dwellers.

Habitat:

This hawk is in an urban residential neighborhood where there are plenty of trees and canyons not far away.
