Indian Myna

Acridotheres tristis

Description:

Chocolate-coloured bird. It has white wing patches, yellow bill, and yellow legs. It makes a distinctive sound as it takes flight. Bold bird.

Habitat:

Urban residential neighbourhood. This bird has adapted well to towns and cities. It is a bit of an omnivore and likes the fruits I put out.

Notes:

In India we say One for Sorrow, Two for Joy...etc...when we see a flock of these birds. Often in pairs and sometimes bald. Bald: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/43...

An image I won't soon be able to erase from my mind 😊 BTW- do you have a number of species on your lifetime list? I don't but think I should count sometime.

Much nicer looking with feathers on its head 😊 I think it is the yellow pointed bill in front of the eye and the yellow pointed patch behind the eye that gives it its unique look. Very striking bird. Thanks for sharing Sukanya.
