Bamboo orchid

Arundina graminifolia

Description:

introduced species

Habitat:

pacific coast rainforest

Notes:

I spotted this in San Cipriano forest reserve along a trail used for maintenance of electrical poles. Though it is an introduced species, this was the only one around and there were no gardens nearby, so I'm not sure where it came from.

That's really interesting. I didn't know that that was possible. I guess it's good news. Thanks Ali!

It was the first foregin orchid to be accepted as a local species in Costa Rica Orchidacea, after it was known it found a pollinator and micorriza to spread around, naturally

We have twin spottings now, although mine seems smaller than yours. :)
