Williamson's Sapsucker - male

Sphyrapicus thyroideus

Habitat:

Pine tree in park behind a donut shop.

Notes:

This brilliant male Williamson's Sapsucker was observed behind BoSa Donuts in Tempe, AZ. It has been staked out for quite some time now and is quite the rarity for the lowlands. This was a greatly-desired lifer for me. Woodpeckers have always been special to me and this was one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen! Definitely in my top 10 most beautiful birds.
