East African Lioness and cubs

Description:

This lioness was part of a pride that was sleeping during the heat of the day, the cubs were most likely not all hers but part of the related pride in the surround area, The females do the majority of the work in the pride including childcare and hunting as a pride with the males providing security. The Lion is the second largest cat after the Tiger, they tend to sleep around 15 hours a day and prey mostly on large ungulates such as the Buffalo that roam the plains.

Amboseli national park, Kenya.
