MARCH FLY

Tabanidae family

Description:

It is official.. I AM CRAZY.. After all day being annoyed by March-flies I rescued this one stuck in the bird cage wire. It lives to annoy me another day!! :)

Habitat:

March Flies (also known as Horse Flies) are large strongly built flies with large eyes - the male's eyes meet in the middle. The eyes often reflect iridescent colour patterns. The "feet" (or tarsi) have three pads instead of two. Some species have hairy eyes. These flies can be a pest at picnics and bush walks as many species bite humans.

@ ARGY.. My Karma is better now and I think she has told her friend exactly that... :D HOPEFULLY!!
@ Martin.. I think her GENE are the ADVENTURES GENES that are needed in the world of man-made monsters.. Non of her siblings will ever have a problem like this again.. :)

I think any fly that get's stuck like this is a weak link and you would improve their gene pool by leaving it there and preventing it from passing on its inferior genes :) There is an award for the fly, the Darwin Award! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwin_Awar...

I really enjoyed the first two pics but then I read on. Did you think it might go and tell it's bitey little friends and relatives to 'leave her alone because she's kind' !? At least you've come clean now. Maybe there should be a badge for insane rescues 8-)
