Groundhog

Marmota monax

Description:

All tan with dark underbelly, black nose, bushy tail and usually white cheeks. Groundhogs are well adapted for digging, with short but powerful limbs and curved, thick claws as well.

Habitat:

Open fields, wooded areas that have rolling hills and sometimes neighborhood parks.

Notes:

Saw this guy running up the hill until he got to his den and stopped to scold me.
