A large bird that can be distinguished in flight by the horizontal black and white on the under wing. The head has no feathers and is red.

Normally found soaring high up in all kinds of habitats. They are found throughout the Americas.

Thanks Luis, Emily, and Jemma! And Emily, they are year round residents in south Texas, but here in the panhandle we only get them the same time you do. They just came back 3 weeks ago!

Ashley, do you get Turkey Vultures year round in TX? They are a Spring - Fall visitor here in CO. I just saw my first one of the season last week! I just love these guys!
