Bullet Ant

Paraponera clavata

Description:

gigantic ant, one inch, also called 24 hour ant for how long the pain lasts after being stung

Habitat:

pacific coast rainforest

Notes:

I'm not normally into photographing ants. I think leaf cutter ants are cool but besides that I pretty much hate ants. They are the most numerous insect in the rainforest and have bitten and stung me many, many times. They can be a huge pain in the neck most of the time. I only photographed this ant because it was so huge! Thankfully I have never been stung by a bullet ant.

Su picada es tan dolorosa, que por eso la llaman Hormiga bala. Se siente como si se recibiera un impacto de bala.
