Streak-throated Woodpecker (video)

Picus xanthopygaeus

Description:

Red cap = male, Yellowish green with scale-like white patterns on side. Streaks on breast.

Habitat:

We have a few bamboo poles between which clotheslines are strung on the rooftop terrace. Flowering climbers also use these poles. Ants have colonized the hollow bamboo poles; now I find that woodpeckers have followed the ants. I saw and HEARD this woodpecker as I came to the terrace to water the plants. It climbed right to the top of the bamboo pole and peeked in to see if could catch some insects at the node (last photo),

Notes:

The sound of its pecking was so loud that I heard it downstairs and wondered who was up on the terrace making that continuous tapping sound. https://youtu.be/JbcupyKD4Yg Please forgive the first few seconds of crazy movements.
