Tiretrack eel

Mastacembelus armatus

Description:

It has a snake like body without any pelvic fins and its anal and dorsal fins are elongated. The body is dull brown with circular patterns or spots.

Habitat:

Streams wetlands, rivers and marshes. On this occasion near the plunge pool of a small waterfall.

Notes:

Although it is a nocturnal species this is the second time I have spotted one out in the daytime foraging.
