Black metallic-blue beetle about 2-2,5 cm length, that looks like an oil beetle, though the head seems smaller than it's torso shield-plate, so I'm not able to come to a conclusion that it even is an oil-beetle(blister-beetle). https://www.inaturalist.org/observations...
Mixed forest, close to Sutjeska National Park.
This specimen also showed no sign of being alerted by my presence, one of the behavioral traits of an oil beetle as they have quite potent defence mechanism that produces an acidic or a corrosive substance when they feel threathened. The abdomen is also elongated which is another trait that is common with the family. This is very similar to the species I spotted in the Sutjeska National Park.
