Western Slimy Salamander

Plethodon albagula

Black salamander with tiny pale yellow spots along its back & broader patches along its sides.

Found on a wooded patch of land about a block from the Arkansas State Capitol building. I was originally chasing a stray chicken, which I did not catch. (#Arkansas) But this little guy was a nice surprise.

Pretty adorable when he crawled under a curly leaf & wore it like a hat.
