Metallic Wood-boring Beetle

A⁠nthaxia quadripunctata

Description:

The three is species of jewel beetles belonging to the family Buprestidae. The pronotum is almost rectangular and usually shows a row of four small dimples. The third beetle is too late but has nevertheless signed up for mating. But it tries to copulate the male instead of chasing him away.

Habitat:

Open forest.
