Fruiticose Lichen

Usnea sp.

Description:

Large bulk on tree branch broken off from high winds the previous day from storm front.

Habitat:

This specimen was observed in a County nature Preserve dangling from a branch of a former fallen Pine tree. It also had fallen and got caught in the former. It was previously a Pine flat woods that has (through succession) been invaded by the oaks.
