Rupicapra rupicapra
This is a common, an emblematic, goat-antelope or small bovid of European mountains, roughly the size of a large goat. Here in its winter attire - mainly dark brown, with off-white face bearing two blackish stripes, and short, backwards-hooked horns. Here, they crossed my path three times, and moved in a small group of 6-7 animals.
This is an emblematic animal of montane regions of France in general; and of Jura range in particular. Here, observed on steep lower slopes of Jura mountain range. These slopes are under mixed forest - mainly oak, beech, fir and spruce, and various deciduous shrubs and some meadows.
