Mini Crane Fly

Limonia (Germanomyia) sp.

Description:

This Crane Fly is only 3 mm long and walks about sideways like a crab. It clearly has a long proboscis, so must feed on nectar. It is the smallest Crane Fly I have ever seen.

Habitat:

Many individuals came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
