Giant Forest Damselfly

Megaloprepus caerulatus

Description:

greatest wingspan of any living damselfly or dragonfly, up to 19 centimeters (7.5 inches) in the largest male

Habitat:

rainforest, 1400m

Notes:

I spotted a few of these in the Amazon too but they were always hard to photograph. These insects are huge and hard to miss. They don't even fly that gracefully or fast and it was hard to approach them closely.
