Froghopper

Description:

This small froghopper had a broad brown head and thorax. Wings were black with distinct white markings. It would have been about 5 mm long and hardly noticeable sitting on a dry eucalyptus leaf on the ground with other leaf litter and bark.

Habitat:

Spotted along a walking track near a reserve - Cardinia Reservoir Park Reserve.

Notes:

These are called froghoppers as adults and spittlebugs as nymphs. They feed exclusively on plant sap.
