Two-horned Tree Hopper

Ceraon vitta

Description:

A small dark brown tree hopper with two truncated pronotal horns. The dark tented wings had a wave-like pale pattern.

Habitat:

Spotted on black wattle ( Acacia mearnsii) in a nature reserve - Police Paddocks.

Notes:

Also called thorn bugs, these hoppers mimic thorns on branches of trees with their pronotum drawn into various shapes for either camouflage or mimicry.
