Dark Caerulean

Jamides bochus herodicus

Habitat:

Urban garden.

Notes:

Some butterflies have a colorful dot at the bottom of their wings to look like their head so the predators will attack the dot instead of their head. You will see many butterflies with the bottom of the wings missing or chewed because of this.

Jamides caeruleus looks like your spotting - http://www.butterflycircle.com/checklist.... But this species is not in our Philippine list :(.. so you could be looking for another Jamides sp...

Amongst the 3 spp of Anthenes in the Philippines, Anthene emolus looks the closest, but it does not have tails :(

Nacaduba hermus looks close also, but there's still difference in the forewing underside. :(

I'll look into the anthenes @gerdanooi and see if I can get a match. Thanks!

Yes Argy Bee the upper side is rich teal blue but it has similar underside pattern as the Sky Blue (Jamides caeruleus)... Thank you for your appreciation and comment.
