Tufted Titmouse

Baeolophus bicolor

Description:

These birds have grey upper parts and white underparts with a white face, a grey crest, a dark forehead and a short stout bill; they have rust-colored flanks. When a titmouse finds a large seed, you’ll see it carry the prize to a perch and crack it with sharp whacks of its stout bill.

Habitat:

Protected wooded area with two large ponds. North Chagrin Reservation, Cleveland Metroparks, Mayfield, Ohio, Cuyahoga County USA. Spotted in a feeding area set up by the park service.
