Coot; Focha Común

Fulica atra

Description:

First one (pics 1 & 2) was fleeing from the government controlled workers who arrived to cut down the reeds where they are nesting - and this is in what they claim is a protected area! Huge flocks of Mallards were also breeding in amongst the reeds. Who knows how many nests and eggs are being destroyed.

Habitat:

Coastal marshes.
