Hill Goat Moth Female

Zeuzera multistrigata Moore, 1881

Description:

Normally seen as black and white, but in this case it is bluish, may be due the direction of the light. This is a large moth.

Habitat:

All India Radio Station, Gangtok is housed in some old bungalows. There are tall old trees in the compound. The compound is surrounded by a mixed forest. Altitude: about 2,000 m.

Notes:

I saw this moth high up on a tree while coming out of the Radio Station after a programme. I requested the in-charge for a ladder. The guard climbed and took some photos under my guidance. I was not satisfied and I climbed myself up the 12-foot ladder and took some more photos. This is one of them. This is there perhaps to lay eggs.
