Males have bright yellow heads and breasts. Underparts change to white. Olive colored back with two white wingbars on each wing. Females are more subdued yellows or drab olive in color with the same white wingbars.
Woodlands. Connetquot State Park, New York.
I observed a first year female as well but was unable to get a good picture of her. She actually flew down to some branches only a few feet away from me and checked me out. Of course, I didn't have my camera ready and didn't want to spook her.
