Common Slipper Shell

Crepidula fornicata

Medium sized sea snail. Shell is rounded with a "platform" on the inside. Pinkish purple with white coloration. Often found in stacks attached to any hard object (rocks in the case of my spotting).

Lower intertidal zone. These were found washed up on the beach. Sunken Meadow State Park, New York.

The first three pictures are live ones. The fourth image is of a shell with the platform visible.
