Spotting

Description:

This small plant has ornate leaves with hairs on its reddish stem. It grows outward from a moss-covered wall of shale. With age, the leaves turn red. Stems are somewhat spindly and 3" in length.

Habitat:

Found on the shady side of the gorge in Watkins Glen State Park next to a waterfall.

Notes:

Possibly a fern?
