Description:

I finally found these in flower! It's such an unusual-looking and fleshy fthing. To me, it looks like a womb with an open cervix. I have heard this unsual shape is becaus ethe primary pollinator is ants. I didn't see any around the many flowering specimens I saw, though.

Habitat:

Native to southeastern United States. It is considered a threatened species in Florida.

Notes:

Spotted in the woods around a detention/retention pond in an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA
