Anolis oculatus
small lizard, fairly common on the island
tropical rainforest
I spotted this at Trafalgar Falls in Morne Trois Pitons national park.
Thanks bayucca, that must be it. They really are variable. Seems like most of the reptiles I saw were these.
Are you sure it's that bayucca? I spotted A. oculatus many, many times but they seem to have more of a spotted body as opposed to this pattern, but like you said they are very variable. I think you might have the wrong link though, it just goes to my spotting. I have some great photos of A. oculatus I will post later.
Endemic species of Dominica with white spot on head and quite a long snout. Actually the only native Anolis. The other one would be Anolis cristellatus, introduced from Puerto Rico, which looks quite different. Cave: Ocelatus is VERY variable! Males and female look different and there are 4 different subspecies. Yours might be Anolis ocelatus montanus as indicated in the link.
