Great Blue Skimmer

Libellula vibrans

Description:

A total length of 50 to 63 mm, it is one of the largest skimmers. Males become completely pruinose blue, with blue eyes and white faces. Younger males appear similar to females but gradually become blue. Females have white faces and develop blue eyes.

Habitat:

Wetlands area in Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Barataria area
