Red protruding mushroom head, no gills. Looks like pores. Stiff/foamy stalk. Found in woody mulch

This is G. curtisii, very common in Georgia.

It's more or less a guess and I could very well be wrong ofcourse, momsavang :) Though the overall look with stem and lacquered appearance reminded me of the lacquered bracket plus I read that there are recordings of Ganoderma lucidum in North America (most likely introduced).

Your spotting could also be a different species of Ganoderma, perhaps Ganoderma curtsii https://www.mushroomexpert.com/ganoderma...
But I guess, like with most species of fungus, you'll need a microscopic analysis to be certain.

Thank you @Jae! I had help from a GA mushrooming site, though they didn't mention the Ganoderma lucidum (they gave me a diff species). I didn't know Reishi grew around here. :)

Great find and I think you're right, momsavang. Your spotting looks a lot like the lacquered bracket (Ganoderma lucidum).
