Description:

Also known as wooly inkcap. This species is poisonous. A very fragile fungi growing to about 100mm (4in) in height, cylindrical or tightly conical grey and "furry", opening out to a planar or convex with upturned edge, becoming almost transparent whilst shedding spores, the outer edge often tears. Very short lived usually less than 48 hours, does not usually liquefy with age like other Comatus species.

Habitat:

seen on the decayed woodchips in a clearing in low common owned by the yorkshire wildlife trust.
