Wild Chilli

Capsicum frutescens

Description:

A chilli plant with broad soft leaves and ripe small chillies. This plant possibly grew from a single seed from someone who brought their food up here as chili peppers play an important role in local cuisine.

Habitat:

Growing on a ground beside the stairway up the hill in Agop Batu Tulug Archaeological Museum, located beside the highway between Sandakan and Lahad Datu, Sabah.

Notes:

Hi Mark, as I have already mentioned in the description, I think some guy brought their spicy food up here and dropped a few seeds on the ground which resulted in them growing here. There are only about 2 of these plants here so I guess they are quite new and have not started dispersing their seeds yet.
