A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Phyllognathia simplex
A very rare find, found this on a night dive at a dive site well known for weird and rare marine critters. This little guy is less than 1cm in size. It was seen moving around looking for food, feeding on bristle stars. When disturbed, it buries itself into the sand with only the eyes visible.
Benthic and nocturnal creature, living among coral rubbles and sandy bottom. They come out to feed at night and burrows into the sands or hide under coral rubble during day time.
